Selecting The Right Rehab To Visit: Understanding The Types Of Facilities And Programs Offered

Posted on: 2 July 2018

If you have an addiction, it may have all started with prescription medication. If you were injured, in a lot of pain, and struggling to make it through each day without feeling completely miserable because of the pain associated with your injuries, a doctor may have prescribed medication that became habit-forming and addicting to you. When you were no longer able to get the medication, you may have resorted to street drugs to make you feel a certain way because you felt like you could not do without the drugs in your system. As you start thinking about the toll addiction has taken on your life, you may have made the excellent decision to reach out for help. Before looking for a rehab near you, you should know a few things about rehab and the different services that may be provided to you.

There Are Different Facilities Available

Deciding you are ready to go to rehab is a great move. It is something you are willing to do to make significant changes to your life that will benefit you in the future. However, you need to know that there are different facilities available, so getting help with choosing the rehab that is right for you may be something to consider. Some of the different types of facilities include:

  1. Faith-based rehab centers. The faith-based rehab centers may provide detox services but will put an emphasis on learning to heal and recover while learning more about God and following His word. If you are religious or come from a religious background, you may find comfort in going to a rehab center where you can get back in touch with God while getting in the habit of praying and having faith again.
  2. Long-term programs. The centers that offer long-term programs are meant to keep clients at the facility for longer periods, such as three months or more. While some people can have success with shorter programs, being away for some time, going through a detox, and then receiving proper counseling and treatment for an extended period of time often increases the chance of staying off drugs.
  3. State-of-the-art centers. Some state-of-the-art centers are offered and are often referred to as luxury rehab centers. The goal is to make sure clients are extremely comfortable and feel like they are on a vacation while they receive treatment because it makes the experience easier to get through and far more enjoyable for those struggling with their addictions.

Different Treatment Programs Are Offered

Aside from finding out if a rehab center is a faith-based center, a long-term center, or even a luxury treatment center, you will need to find out more information on the various programs that are offered. Not all rehab centers are going to offer the same programs, even though they all have the same goal in mind—to help addicted people improve their lives. For example, many rehab centers start with the detox because that is one of the first steps you need to take to get clean, but there is much more to it than that.

Some rehab centers offer dual-diagnosis treatment. The purpose of dual diagnosis treatment is to identify and treat mental health conditions that many addicted people often suffer from. There is a belief that underlying mental health conditions are often related to the use of drugs and alcohol because many people are not aware of these conditions and attempt to self-treat themselves. Aside from dual-diagnosis treatment, centers may offer various programs to keep individuals busy while helping them relax and overcome addiction, such as music therapy, art therapy, animal-assisted therapy, and exercise courses. You should always find out what is being offered to you before you visit a rehab center.

If you are addicted to drugs and have recently realized things are only getting worse instead of better, you may feel like you are ready to accept help. Different rehab centers are available and can help you, but you should know about the options and the programs offered before choosing the one you will visit to focus on yourself and getting clean.
